AUBURN — Sydney Lacombe tripled, singled and drove in three runs as part of a potent Poland offense in an 11-3 softball win over Mountain Valley on Thursday at Central Maine Community College.
Khloe O’Leary and Olivia Rioux also tripled and singled, and Phoebe Paradis and Taylor Farrell tallied two hits apiece as well for the Knights (4-3). Gretchyn Paradis struck out four batters while allowing just one hit across four shutout innings. O’Leary struck out four more batters while pitching the final three innings for Poland.
Mallorie Bourret homered and Madisyn McLean tripled for the Falcons (0-6).
BASEBALL
POLAND 24, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 11: Sam Paladino had four hits and three RBIs at the plate and pitched the final five innings to earn the win for the Knights (4-3) against the Falcons (1-4) at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.
Paladino mixed in a double with his three singles, while Alex Mains had delivered two doubles and a single. Regan Cohen also had three hits, while Shwan West and Aiden Bean had two each.
Tyler Warren tallied three hits for Mountain Valley, including a double. Rilan Farnum recorded a triple and a single, and Jake New, Julien Byam and Seneca Jones also had two hits.
GIRLS LACROSSE
NOBLE 7, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/POLAND 6: Amelia Foster finished with a hat trick as the 26ers (1-4) narrowly lost to the Knights (1-3) in Gray.
Errow Hinckley, Laney Farrar and Hailey Carson also scored for Gray-New Gloucester/Poland.
MORSE 10, MT. BLUE 5: Chloe Roberts scored her 100th career goal but the Cougars (4-2) were doubled up by the Shipbuilders (4-1) at McMann Field in Bath.
Roberts tallied a hat trick, with her second goal getting her to the century-mark milestone. She also added two assists. Grace Allen and Maya Kellett also scored for Mt. Blue and Lily Huntly provided an assist. Evie Hutchins made 18 saves.
Olive Beeton paced Morse with three goals and also tallied an assist. Ophelia Hibl and Zoe Avery scored two goals apiece, with Hibl also notching an assist. Micah Wolf, Lillian Pomerleau and Lily Wright also scored, and Wolf, Nadia Panetski and Sophie Prager recorded assists. Haley Kirkpatrick stopped nine shots.
