DEAR SUN SPOTS: As the program manager of a day program in Auburn, I’d like to let Sun Spots readers know we support individuals with disabilities and teach them life skills as well as skills out in the community.

We are looking for some items and we were curious if it would be possible for folks to donate any of these items to our program. The individuals would be so appreciative of the items and so would I.

Here is a list of the items needed: hand drums, maracas, tambourines, egg shakers (musical instrument), djembe drum, keyboard piano, karaoke machine, any art and craft supplies, and a picnic table.

Please contact me at dean@thewhittierhouse.org — Dean, no town

ANSWER: Thank you for the work you do, Dean. I know Sun Spotters will want to help. For those who are thinking about what they can do, perhaps Dean could accept cash donations as well to put toward the items. Please keep us posted on the progress of obtaining what you need.

For more information about this community support program, contact Dean or go to https://www.facebook.com/p/The-Whittier-House-Community-Support-Program-100064710260771/.

You can also sign up on our website for our Thursday 6 p.m. classes: Tea for Stress Relief, Polyclay Miniatures, and Gemstone Beaded Bracelet.

If you join us for any of these activities, you will have the opportunity to also donate a prom dress for next year’s Prom Gown Giveaway. For more information, contact me at 402-7591. — Kathy, no town

ANSWER: An opportunity to see the Foss Mansion, one of Auburn’s jewels, would be a lovely way to spend some time. I appreciate all the work that goes into keeping the mansion and the organization in such excellent running order and they add so much value to the community.

The Prom Dress Giveaway, especially, is a big event that helps so many young women feel special.
