Raymond E. Beaudoin

LEWISTON – Raymond E. Beaudoin, 87, of 50 Summit Ave., passed away May 4, 2024. He was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Lewiston the son of Phillipe and Maria Beaudoin. He was a graduate of St. Dominic High School where he won the men’s tennis state championship in 1952, and completed a year of studies at the University of Maine. Raymond served two years in the Marine Corps Reserve with the 123rd rifle company, and four years in the U.S. Navy Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1959.

He spent many years playing for hockey teams in the Lewiston and Berlin, N.H., areas where he had a successful career. He was chosen All-American by the AHA in 1963, enjoyed exhibition games with the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens old timers, and was honored to usher the Cassius Clay and Sonny Liston fight in the 1960s. He lived in Lisbon for 24 years as an active member of St. Anne’s Church.

He was a member of the council, and acted as the St. Anne’s Cemetery sexton for 14 years. He was a volunteer firefighter with the H.T. Smith Hose Company of Lisbon, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, council #2358. In 2011 he was inducted into the Auburn/Lewiston Sports Hall of Fame. Ray was a sociable man who will be fondly remembered for his joviality, caring spirit, and genuine love of life.

Raymond will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 35 years Jane Beaudoin. He is survived by daughters, Shelly Rae Kesaris and husband Arthur III, and Jessica Rae Wagner and husband Brian; daughter-in-law Dixie Beaudoin; grandchildren, Caylin and husband Shane, Jay, Nicholas, Benjamin, Alexa, Owen, Mason, and Wesley; great-grandchildren Ryker and Leighton; sister Venise Morin; godchild Diane Boulay; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Eugene Beaudoin; his sister Germaine Morin; and his son Jay Beaudoin.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin for the care and comfort they have given to Raymond.

A Funeral Mass honoring Raymond’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Church. Committal services along with a Military Honors Service will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at http://www.lynchbrothers.com .
