Therese C. McKenna

AUBURN – Therese C. McKenna, 93, of Jay passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Androscoggin Hospice House following a medical event. She was born April 21, 1931, in Jay, the daughter of Louis and Isabelle (Veilleux) Chicoine. She graduated from Jay High School in 1950, and Rumford Community Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. On Oct. 21, 1966, she married Richard McKenna at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Therese worked as a Registered Nurse at Rumford Community Hospital for 10 years, International Paper Co. Otis Mill and Androscoggin Mill for 23 years, retiring in 1987. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Daughters of Isabella, Lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the American Nurse Asso. Therese was a very giving person, who loved to cook for her family, especially during holidays. She enjoyed bingo, trips to the casinos, and traveling to Las Vegas. She was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Bowling League for 20 years.

She is survived by her husband Richard of Jay, son Joseph McKenna of Wilton, two grandchildren, Skye Bunker and husband Matthew of Ellsworth, Taylor McKenna and partner Matthew Jean of Lewiston. Four great grandchildren, Ryleigh Jean, Jayden Henry, Patrick Saucier, Nathan Bunker, and one more expected soon. She also leaves behind her sister, Arlene Landry and her husband Albert of Jay; sister-in-law, Vivian Chicoine of Livermore and Frances Chicoine of Jay, former daughter-in-law, Michelle Meserve of Lewiston, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Armand, Clarence, and Louis Chicoine; and three sisters, Christine Harlow, Rita Burke, and Doris Wilson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St., Jay. Committal Services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park St., Livermore Falls, Maine. Arrangements by Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St. Livermore Falls.
