MONMOUTH — Sammy Calder pitched a five-inning no-hitter and Monmouth won its fifth consecutive game with a 10-0 victory over Boothbay/Wiscasset in Mountain Valley Conference baseball action Tuesday.
Calder struck out eight Boothbay/Wiscasset (4-6) batters and only allowed one walk. He threw 55 pitches, including 38 for strikes.
No. 9 hitter Brandon Smith tallied a game-high three hits, drove in a run and scored a run for Monmouth (8-1). Freshmen Jake Harmon and Noah Schultz and sophomore Rory Foyt drove in two runs apiece. Harmon and Kyle Palleschi each doubled and scored two runs.
BOYS LACROSSE
OAK HILL/MONMOUTH/LISBON/ST. DOMINIC 12, LEWISTON 8: The Class C Raiders (5-3) pulled away in the second half to claim victory over the Class A Blue Devils (5-5) in Lewiston.
The teams were tied 5-5 at halftime, then Oak Hill/Monmouth/Lisbon/St. Dom’s outscored Lewiston 4-2 in the third quarter and 3-1 in the fourth.
Adam Hinkley paced the Raiders’ offense with five goals and three assists. Gage Spier added two goals and three assists, Kaiden Delano netted three goals and Lukas Bergeron contributed two goals and assisted on another.
Jackson Bement led the Blue Devils with three goals. Cody Dionne scored two, and Colton Daniels, Daven Langelier and Aizyk Laliberte scored one each.
