Maine will warm up Tuesday with some towns expected to be near 90 degrees by the afternoon.
Strong storms are also possible, with an even higher risk of severe weather Thursday.
Tuesday will feature a wide range in temps across the state. Coastal temps look to reach the upper 60s or low 70s while inland temps climb into the 80s or even near 90 in western Maine with humid conditions and plenty of sun.
There will be the risk of a strong storm for areas away from the coast this evening, damaging winds and hail will be possible with these. The coastal storm risk is very low.
Wednesday will be the hottest day this week and the hottest day since early September. Widespread 80s are expected for the afternoon, some inland towns will approach or even exceed 90 degrees with mainly sunny skies. While there may be a stray storm, most stay sunny and hot.
Thursday will be the final very hot and humid day this week. Low to mid 80s are expected Thursday afternoon, and as a cold front moves into Maine a line of strong thunderstorms will develop and push towards the coast during the evening.
More damaging winds and hail will be possible with these, the threat of strong storms is much higher than Tuesday.
After we clear the storms out Thursday night, much drier, more refreshing air moves in for the end of the week and weekend.
Drier air returns on Friday, and it’s looking like the pick of the week with highs near 80 and plenty of sun.
Dry weather looks to stick around into the Memorial Day weekend as well with sunshine and highs in the 70s and low 80s on Saturday and Sunday.
