Lewiston city officials need to learn to live within their means. Until something is done to expand the tax base by attracting business and working people to this deteriorating city, the school and municipal budgets simply need to be less.
It is unfair to expect the current residents to finance a tax increase approaching 10% when their incomes are not increasing at the same rate. Everyone would like to have “nice things,” but if people cannot afford these things they need to make do without.
I encourage voters to vote “no” on this current school budget. Hopefully then the municipal budget will also be reevaluated to help relieve our tax burden.
