POLAND — The Poland Select Board awarded the bid for a new Poland Fire Rescue Utility Truck to Quirk Ford for a 2024 Ford Super Duty 550 in the amount of $63,425.

The funds will come from the Fire Rescue’s capital improvement reserve account.

In other business, Selectperson John DeSantis was selected to serve on the Androscoggin County Budget Committee.

Residents will be receiving a breakdown of the town’s tax commitment in the town’s authorized newsletter.

The newsletter gives the breakdown by percentages where the taxes go to as follows: Androscoggin County, 8.3%; municipal 29.3%; and schools 62.4%.

It also states, “This means for every $1,000 dollars of your taxes $83 will go to the county, $293 dollars will go to the municipality and $624 dollars will go to the RSU.”

The newsletter also clarifies that the Board of Selectpersons and the town do not have authority over Region School Unit 16 budget and do not help with the budget process for RSU 16.
