BETHEL – Douglas Walter Jones, 56, left this world unexpectedly on Sept. 27, 2024, due to a brain aneurysm.
Doug was born on Sept. 13, 1968, in Malden, Mass. to Veronica Fair Mclaughlin and Walter S. Jones. He was educated at Tabor Academy, University of Hartford and earned a Master’s degree in Finance from Boston College. The first half of his career was in finance in Boston. In 2009, Doug took a new path and purchased Cross Excavation in Bethel, Maine.
Doug’s friends and family were impacted by his warmth, smile, sense of humor, generosity, big hugs and his love of life. He loved the beach, dogs, washing cars, fishing, anything with an engine, and Italian food.
Doug was predeceased by his mother, Veronica McLaughlin and stepfather, John P. McLaughlin. He is survived by his son, Matthew Douglas Jones of Bethel; loving partner Michelle McCarthy of Newry; father Walter S. Jones (Yvonne) of Estero, Fla.; and sister Sallyanne Corsaro (Louis) of Brewster, NY. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family, his Cross Excavation family, and his beloved dogs Gunner and Charlie.
Douglas was an organ donor and his final gift of life will enable many to survive. Though he has left us far too soon, his bright light will continue to shine.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date.
Donations in his memory can be made to the:
