Raymond V. Bizier

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – On Aug. 27, 2024, Raymond V. Bizier passed away at the age of 82 with his loving wife Monika at his side. Born Jan. 11, 1942, he was the first of four sons born to Josephine E. (Jacmic) and Victor J. Bizier in Jay, Maine.

He graduated from Jay High School and joined the Army to see the world. This decision led to a successful career of 30 years of service to his country. He indeed experienced the world and history while serving in bases around the U.S, Europe, Greenland and Vietnam. Early in his career as an MP in Berlin, Germany he was serving guard duty when construction vehicles arrived to begin building the Berlin Wall. Later he received the Bronze Star for his service in the Vietnam conflict. He also had the distinction of being the youngest soldier to achieve the rank of Sergeant Major in the Army.

After his retirement his passion was long distance bicycling. He biked daily with friends in Florida and crossed the U.S. five times, using a different route each time.

He is survived by his wife Monika of Englewood, Fla., and his brothers Dr. Daniel Bizier of Costa Rica, Conrad Bizier and his wife Nancy of Jay, and Gregory Bizier and his wife Josephine of Livermore; nieces, nephews and cousins in Maine and Canada.
