WINTHROP — Four unanswered goals by Katie Beck and Abby St. Clair carried Winthrop to a 5-1 girls soccer victory over Carrabec on Monday.
All of the scoring occurred during an 18-minute stretch in the second half. Winthrop’s (6-5) Zion Armstrong set up Bella Baehr for the first goal with 27:50 left in the game. Carrabec (2-8) responded 40 seconds later with a goal by Leah Price off an assist from Anna Canales to even the score at 1-1.
Beck’s unassisted goal with 25:32 left gave the Ramblers a 2-1 lead. St. Clair set up Beck’s second goal about 10 minutes later. Then St. Clair scored on a penalty kick with 12:22 remaining and capped the scoring with an unassisted goal with 9:56 left.
FIELD HOCKEY
LISBON 1, BOOTHBAY 0: Freshman Julia Quagliaroli’ second-quarter goal lifted the Greyhounds (6-4-1) to victory over the Seahawks (3-6) in Lisbon.
Lisbon goalie Sophia Cote stopped all five shot she faced to earn the shutout.
MT. BLUE 4, EDWARD LITTLE 0: Three players had a goal and an assist apiece as the Cougars improved to 7-4 with a win over the Red Eddies (4-8) in Auburn.
Lily Huntley, Grace Allen and Morgan Hersey each scored once and set up a goal. Kali Judkins also scored for Mt. Blue, while Alyssa Parker and Bree Griffin each contributed an assist.
Edward Little goalie Sophia Gerry made nine saves. Mt. Blue’s Gwen Lesperance stopped two shots.
