Cast members of the upcoming Community Little Theatre production of the musical “1776” have been fittted for 18th-century attire as they prepare for the opening of the show on Friday, Oct. 25. Producer/costumer Jane Mitchell has been working closely with the cast — including Roger Philippon, who is playing Benjamin Franklin in the show — to ensure each has the proper look for their real-life characters.

Kicking off CLT’s 85th consecutive season, “1776” tells the story of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and others as they fight for independence against a deadlocked Continental Congress in a musical filled with humor, romance, and tension. The seminal event in American history blazes to life in this unconventional Broadway hit, which won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical. “1776” puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the real men behind the names we have known for so long.

The show is directed by Celeste Philippon, who is assisted by musical director Linda Vaillancourt, producer/customer Jane Mitchell, stage manager Brandon Chaloux, assistant director Mark Hazard, and assistant director/choreographer Eileen Messina.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, 26, 31, and Nov. 1 and 2; matinees will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 27, and Nov. 3. A special “talk back” session with the cast and crew will be held immediately following the matinee on Oct. 27. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors/students, and $17 for children aged 13 and under. CLT is located at 30 Academy St., Auburn. Tickets and more information are available online at laclt.com.
