BETHEL — The Bethel town office was faced with a surprise when town manager Sharon Jackson went to fetch the ballot boxes from the basement, only to find one of them covered with mold.
The mold was discovered mid-September, and for four weeks now the basement of the Bethel Town office has been awaiting decontamination.
The previous week, an article was posted regarding the Selectboard’s budget plans for mold removal.
Since then, Octagon has been confirmed as the company that will be carrying out the eradication of the mold. They will begin work in the town hall on Oct. 16.
According to Jackson, the process should last 15-20 days. Until then, people are advised to stay out of the basement.
