PARIS — Oxford Hills’ winning streak reached four games with its 49-0 win over Edward Little in a Class A North football game at the Don Gouin Athletic Complex on Friday.

Coach Nate Danforth said the Vikings (4-3) have faced a lot of adversity this season with injuries and low numbers, with only 27 of the 36 team’s players practicing this week.

“It just feels good to harp on these guys all week about working hard and it’s going to pay off, and then them fighting through all that adversity to come out,” Danforth said. “It does pay off, and the kids look great at times. And obviously there’s stuff to work on, but that’s part of football.”

Cam Pulkkinen led Oxford Hills with four touchdowns, including a 57-yard punt return

“My coach, he was yelling, ‘Poison,’ meaning don’t touch it,” Pulkkinen said. “But I saw the ball and I was like, if I get in the end zone, he’s not going to be mad. So I just picked it up and ran.”

Pulkkinen also caught three touchdown passes from quarterback Carter Wyman, including a 32-yarder.

“I got a great quarterback to throw to me, and then I got a great blocker on the right side, so if (Wyman) hits me, I’m going in the end zone,” Pulkkinen said.

Pulkkinen finish with 56 yards receiving on three receptions. Wyman completed 17 of 25 passes for 262 yards and four scores. Eli LaVerdiere had a 20-yard TD catch in the fourth quarter.

LaVerdiere had a team-high five catches (50 yards), while Brayden Murch caught four passes for 75 yards and Logan Bottomly gained 40 yards on his two receptions.

“I’ve played football with them all the way up through, so, I mean, I just trust them and they make the plays and they’re awesome,” Wyman said. “I love them.”

Wyman said he expected “nothing less than this,” Friday due to the team’s “high level of preparation” for games each week.

Malaki Sparks led the Vikings’ running attack with 61 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.

“I knew we had a good game plan running the ball,” Danforth said. “We have some really good running backs and Malaki is coming along.”

Danforth said that one of the team’s running backs, Cam Roy, was injured during Friday’s game, and Oxford Hills was injured in last week’s 18-17 overtime win over Portsmouth in New Hampshire. Those absences poised yet another challenge to the Vikings’ depth, but Danforth said the underclassmen have been stepping up and filling roles.

“With what we had at practice, and the holes that were there (tonight), the kids hit them,” Danforth said. “They just ran, and throwing the ball, that’s what we do. Carter does a really good job finding guys, and game plan came together tonight.”

“We don’t have the numbers that most schools do, but every single kid on that sideline — they love us,” Murch said. “We’re a team, we’re a family, and they hop in every practice and help us get good looks for other teams’ offenses and defenses. So having those guys on the sideline, quality over quantity.”

The Red Eddies were without starting quarterback TJ Kramarz, who missed the game due to injury. Quan Bullock and Hunter Baker were the main ball carriers Friday.

Coach Rick Kramer said he thought the team was competitive in the first half, but Pulkkinen’s third touchdown in the final minutes of the second quarter made it 21-0, then the Vikings added two TDs in the third quarter and two in the fourth.

“We made a number of mistakes in a row, and you really can’t do that — not in Class A football, you can’t make mistakes,” Kramer said. “Everybody has injuries, we just have a whole bunch of at the same time.”

Edward Little (1-6) finishes its season with a pair of home games, against Bangor (2-5) next Friday and Lewiston (3-3) on Nov. 1.

Oxford Hills hosts Windham (2-5) next week and then finishes the regular season at Bangor.
