To the Editor:
Dear residents of the Rangeley region, we write this message to the extended community with sincere gratitude for your support.
About six weeks ago, a letter was mailed to all taxpayers in Rangeley and the surrounding Plantations, explaining our project status and requesting donations for the Rangeley Childcare Center. The response and generosity has been impressive; so many of you have made gifts to support this much-needed project that promises to serve our broad community.
Whether you are a Rangeley native, a more recent full-time resident, a seasonal resident, or even an occasional visitor to our beautiful corner of Maine, we appreciate every donation to this effort – every dollar makes a difference. Community support escalates this endeavor beyond the ordinary.
It is truly a public and private effort; we have secured significant government grants, but also depend on the donations of individuals. Thank you to each and every donor who has made a gift. We are proud to be part of a community that sincerely devotes itself to the common good.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
