JAY — On Saturday, Dec. 7, Turtletopia Childcare will offer a Grinch themed “Parent’s Day Off” event.

Business Owner Tabitha Witherell said in a phone interview with The Franklin Journal that she planned the event with Sarah Kovel who was recently hired. “We’re both parents of young kids,” said Witherell. “It’s hard to do simple things like Christmas shop without toting kids along, or enjoy lunch without stress.”

Witherell said that she wanted to do something that is open to the public, to get involved and open their doors to the parents in the community.

Witherell also mentioned that the event will feature a winter-themed sensory table that was inspired by her young daughter’s love for playing with expensive holiday displays. It gives the children an opportunity to play with similar objects without breaking anything important or dangerous.

Parents can choose to leave their kids under the care of Turtletopia for a half or full day on Dec. 7. The morning half will occur from 8 a.m. to noon and will consist of a Grinch themed pancake breakfast, a take-home craft, playtime in the winter-themed sensory table, and themed crafts and games.

The afternoon half will be from noon to 4 p.m. and includes a Grinch themed pizza lunch, a take-home ornament craft, playtime in the winter-themed sensory table, themed games and crafts, and possibly some time outdoors, weather permitting.

A half day will cost $30, while the full day will be $50.

Registration ends on Nov. 30 and must be paid for at the time of registration. Spots are first come, first serve. For information, see the Turtletopia Childcare Facebook page. To register, email [email protected] or call Tabitha Witherell at [681]209-4286.
