AUBURN – Maurice “Moe” Gene Poulin was born on Oct. 16, 1949, and passed away peacefully, on Nov. 23, 2024.
Moe had many different careers throughout his life, he worked in construction, in shoe shops as a hand stitcher, he was a painter, and prior to retirement, worked in his brother’s business making dough. Moe loved watching old movies and football. He could regularly be found spending time in his garden or sitting outside enjoying the birds and chasing away groundhogs.
Moe is survived by brothers Laurier “Larry” Poulin, Roger Poulin, and Robert “Bob” Poulin, their partners; many nieces and nephews; as well as a large extended family, and many friends.
Moe will forever be missed by his son Paul Poulin and his wife Shannon. Paul inherited many of his dad’s best qualities, his generosity, his big heart, and of course his gift of gab. Stopping over to see “The Old Man” was always met with the happiest “Hey Bud”!! They could spend all day reminiscing about their hunting/fishing trips and sharing stories. Moe loved to tease Paul and one guaranteed way to get the privilege of hearing that signature Moe-laugh was when Shannon would take Moe’s side. It worked every time.
Moe will be fondly remembered by his son Donnie Theriault and his wife Jodi. Sundays without “Moe-zaaah” will never be the same, especially during football season. Watching the Patriots with Moe meant good food, great company, and steady razzing between him and Donnie. Moe’s seafood chowder was outstanding, and he never made a batch without saving a bowl for Jodi.
He will also be deeply missed by his daughter Mandy Zielinski and her husband Nick. Moe always greeted Mandy with his enormous smile and an affectionate “Hi Papooski!”. She will forever appreciate her Pappy for teaching her the necessary life skills like driving and playing pool. Perhaps as enamoring as his greeting was listening to Moe and Nick laugh together. It was infectious.
Rhayna, Peighton, Colin, and Kendall amplified the twinkle in their Grampy’s eyes. Moe’s love and pride for his grandchildren was palpable when they entered the room. He made it known that he was the luckiest grandfather and was happiest surrounded by his grandchildren. Spending time with family always made his day brighter, as was evident by his beaming smile and warm hugs. His strength, selflessness, and pure joy will live in them always.
Moe was preceded by his parents, Lucille and Henri Poulin; his brother Gerry Poulin, and his wife Sandy Poulin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Moe’s life on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024 starting at 12 p.m. at the Lisbon Left Hand Club, Old County Road, Lisbon, ME.
