LEWISTON – Rita B. Fortier, 97, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was born on April 21, 1927, a daughter to Joseph and Anna (Turmel) Belanger. She was born in Rumford, Maine and attended local schools, graduating from St. Mary’s School in Lewiston.
She was married to Joseph H. Fortier on Sept. 15, 1951, and enjoyed a wonderful marriage until his passing in 1998. Rita and Joseph had three children, Susan, Raymond and Daniel.
Rita was a dedicated mother and daughter and had a lifelong passion for music and dancing.
Rita was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph, her youngest son Daniel, her sister Therese Latourneau and two brothers Paul Belanger and Gerard Belanger.
She leaves behind her children Susan and Raymond, two grandchildren Michael and Jeffery, and four great grandchildren.
Services will be private.
