RANGELEY — Rangeley Friends of the Arts presented its annual Walk to Bethlehem for the 45th year in a row, on Dec. 8. It has become a community favorite, allowing neighbors to join together and celebrate the season of Christmas in a meaningful way.

Traditions grow strong roots in the fertile soil of a healthy community, and Rangeley certainly has its fair share. We love our parades, our gala events, our festivals, along with a calendar full of fun up at Saddleback.

The Walk to Bethlehem wends its way from The Rangeley Inn to St. Luke’s, the Baptist Church, the Congregational Church, and leads to The Good Shepherd where the festivities take place. There was the Bell Choir, Community Chorus, Grades 2-5 and Middle and High School Choruses, with seasonal favorites being sung in between by the audience. Then there’s the Pageant at the end, a living nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, their baby Jesus, the Wise Men, shepherds and the angels. The cold outside is held at bay by the warmth inside. Everyone leaves humming and smiling and imbued with the Christmas spirit.

The Walk to Bethlehem is a reminder to us all that we walk together, especially when there’s no room left in the inn.

Thanks to all who participated and attended and Merry Christmas to all from the RFA.
