LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen on Dec. 3 voted to forego ATV access decisions until a later date.

“We have talked this over,” Chair William Kenniston said. Without an ATV club, not a lot of interest, it would probably cause more headaches right now, he noted. “I personally feel that it would be best to move on from this until a later date,” he stated.

“Or at least until one of them comes to us with a proposal,” Selectman Bruce Peary said.

“That is what I was thinking,” Kenniston said. “Until we actually have an ATV club to bring it back and talk about it.”

At the meeting held on Nov. 6, selectmen tabled a decision on ATV/UTV road access. Town Manager Carrie Castonguay  said she looked into the process for opening roads up to ATV vehicles. She was told it is unusual for a town to call, usually it is an ATV club asking for a road to be opened up for ATV use. At that time Kenniston wanted more time to talk with those wanting to ride, see if there was a way to connect trails between towns.

In other business Town Clerk Doris Austin said 30 Thanksgiving boxes were delivered this year. She thanked the Police Department for their help delivering them. “A lot of people ate a nice Thanksgiving meal from our help,” she noted.

The town received several thanks, one from a family who had planned to have boxed macaroni and cheese, Austin added.

“These are tough times but caring people make it better,” Kenniston said. “We have a lot of good things going on in this town. The average person may not see it yet.”
