Workers from DICON (Diocesan Construction) erect scaffolding Jan. 14 at Holy Family Church at 607 Sabattus St. in Lewiston. Christopher Reeves bundles up Jan. 16 on Park Street in Lewiston. He says he was living with his mother until she became ill and had to go into the hospital. Since then, he has been living outdoors. “It’s been kind of cold out,” Reeves says. Despite the challenges he faces, Reeves says people have been looking out for him. “They’ve been showering me with gifts, trying to cover me up,” he says, adding that they tell him: “We’re gonna keep you warm. Don’t you worry.” Temperatures are expected to plummet early this week, with lows near zero. The city has no official warming shelters open during the daytime.
