BRYANT POND – Born on Dec. 16, 1935 in Brunswick, Maine to Eva (Pratte) and Gerald Gammon, Edward Gammon Sr. led a life defined by faith, love, and devotion to family.
Throughout his life, he worked in construction and carried on his family’s legacy as a 5th-generation axe and tool handle manufacturer. However, his greatest calling and passion was his ministry. He faithfully served as Pastor at several churches, including Sumner, Bethel Gospel Center, Rumford Corner, and most recently Albany Congregational Church.
Edward passed away Jan. 17, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jackie; and his sons, Donald and Daniel Gammon. He is survived by his children, Edward Gammon Jr., Jill Gammon, Jonathan Gammon, Melody (Radcliffe) Gammon, and Aaron Gammon; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Krystyl, Peggy, Casey, Gabrielle, and Gavin Gammon; his beloved sister, Rose and her husband Tedd Fish, who were a constant source of love and support, especially in his final days.
A man with a heart of gold, Edward was kind, generous, and unwavering in his faith. His legacy of love and compassion will shine brightly, and he undoubtedly earned many stars on his crown in Heaven.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Edward’s incredible caregivers, whose loving care and support meant so much. Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Grace Fellow Church, with a Funeral Service on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the Grace Fellowship Church, 29 Poplar St., Oxford.
Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. The funeral service will be live streamed on Edward’s obituary page, online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com.
