Police officers arrived from several directions, detaining at least one man in a parking lot while other officers rushed up to the fourth floor apartment where the attack was reported to have occurred.

In the end, police said, the people named as victims of the assault refused to cooperate with the investigation. As a result, no arrests were made in connection with the reported home invasion. However, one man, 26-year-old Chanse Devoe, of 230 Bartlett St., was charged with possession of methamphetamine as police investigated.

There were no reports of serious injury. The incident was said to have occurred in an apartment on the top floor of the apartment house at 130 Oxford St.

A 15-year-old boy who lives there said he came home to find several police officers inside the apartment and both of his parents in handcuffs. Also inside the apartment was the teen’s 9-year-old brother.

Outside, police questioned at least one man who had been seen fleeing the apartment house around the time of the reported invasion.

The police response caused a stir in the neighborhood along the short section of Oxford Street. Several people at a nearby social club said they never heard anything. One minute it was quiet, they said, and the next, police were coming from all directions.

One man at the club said he was not particularly surprised to see this kind of police response in the area — police have been called out to that stretch of Oxford Street many times in recent months, he said.
