NORWAY — Norway Savings Bank recently donated $21,000 to four organizations, including $10,000 to the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.
The home is the recipient of the annual Patricia Weigel Pay It Forward Award, which the bank presented Feb. 6. The home’s residents will decide how to spend the contribution.
The bank also donated $8,000 to SCORE Maine, which has an office in Auburn. Over 120 SCORE Maine mentors offer expertise, personalized guidance, and resources in business development and financial consulting free of charge. The services span a variety of business sizes from a startup to a company managing large growth.
Annually, SCORE Maine facilitates over 4,000 client sessions, more than 100 online and in-person workshops, and other opportunities. The work has led to the creation of thousands of new jobs, according to a bank news release.
The bank additionally gave $1,500 to the Franco-American Heritage Center in Lewiston. The performing arts and cultural facility offers a showcase for today’s talent and a venue to celebrate Maine’s past and present, with 80% of Maine’s Franco-American population living within 50 miles of Lewiston/Auburn.
The bank also gave $1,500 to the Maine Music Society in Lewiston. The contributions will help subsidize free tickets to all MMS concert events for children 12 and under.
