When I received a newsletter last week from Rep. Jared Golden titled “For Democracy, Slow is Smooth and Smooth is Fast,” composed entirely of finger-wagging and scolding Democrats, I had to double-check: yep, we did, in fact, send Golden to D.C. to fight for us.
You could be forgiven for thinking we’d elected Austin Theriault, from the way he’s bending over backwards to cover for the Elon Musk administration.
Golden’s latest tack is twofold: (1) to cover his ears and insist that this already disastrous trade war is going to be great; and (2) to roll his eyes at anybody who calls what is happening to our country a constitutional crisis.
I’m tired of this. This Democrat wants to see the congressman, and I’m sure I’m not alone. I want him to explain to my face why he’s spending more time yelling at Democrats than this lawless administration.
I want him to explain why we’re not in a constitutional crisis, despite: (1) an executive branch brazenly seizing Congress’ appropriations power; (2) the administration ignoring several court orders telling it to stop the illegal impoundments; and (3) a president who has, apparently, subcontracted the job of being president to a drugged-addled, foreign-born billionaire who’s running around Washington stealing the people’s money.
I want Rep. Golden to explain why I should remain calm, even though my 2-year-old daughter was born with fewer rights than my wife.
Surely he’s confident enough to argue his case in person. He should schedule a town hall — we’re eager to see him.
