Daniel Alden Parker
MECHANIC FALLS – Daniel Alden Parker, 75, of Mechanic Falls, passed away from a hemorrhagic stroke at Maine Medical Center in Portland on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Danny was born in Lewiston, Maine on Sept 12, 1949. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1968 and enlisted in the Navy in 1969. He served his country during the Vietnam war as a Gunner’s Mate aboard the USS Hollister and was honorably discharged in December 1974. Upon discharge, he moved to Owl’s Head where he met and later married Linda Paulsen in July of 1982. They settled in St. George where they raised their family. Although their marriage ended, he always remained cordial and his love for the entire Paulsen family never ceased. After serving in the military, he began a career at FMC/Marine Colloids in Rockland working his way up to management and retiring after 33 years in May 2007.
After retirement, he moved back to the Lewiston/Auburn area to be closer to his parents where he met Diana Jones, who he married in 2012. They enjoyed spending time together playing cards with family and friends and watching the birds they so lovingly fed on the porch in their backyard.
He was a loving father that left no doubt in his daughters’ minds just how loved they were. Danny was an incredibly hard worker and excellent provider for his family. He was a phenomenal cook and took great pride in his home and yard. He was an avid gardener and fisherman who thoroughly enjoyed trips to the Allagash with his father and friends.
Danny had an eclectic taste in music and was a fabulous dancer in his younger years. It was not uncommon for him to breakdance at parties. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great storyteller.
He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. We are so incredibly proud of him for finding sobriety through God.
Danny was predeceased by his parents Alden and most recently, Gloria Parker. He is survived by his wife Diana Parker of Mechanic Falls; his daughters Hillary Parker and partner Tom Savage of Christiana, Pa., Ammie Parker and her children, Brynn Rector and Odin Sine of Juneau, Alaska, their mother, Linda Paulsen of St. George, and his daughter Nichole Roes of Waldoboro; his sisters, Jill Parker of Bridgton, and her children Greg Chenard of Lewiston and Lynn (Chenard) Kazakis of St Augustine, Fla.; and Kimberly Diamond of Stoneham, and her children Patrick Diamond of Portland, and Isabella Diamond of Biddeford. All of whom he loved very much.
Committal services will be held at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Augusta on Thursday June 12.
He is deeply missed.
