Today’s windswept rainstorm forced the closing of the Mt. Gile Ski Area at East Auburn for the season. Richard Williams, treasurer for the Mt. Gile Ski Tow Committee, noted today that much of the snow cover on the three trails had been washed away and the road leading to the ski area has become impassable, and so, the skiing season has ended at East Auburn.
Williams said this winter produced some excellent skiing at the ski facilities maintained by the East Auburn Community Unit, Inc. He noted that attendance was on the upswing, particularly during the February school vacation period when an average from 40 to 50 skiers were on the slopes daily.
The ski area, which includes a 300-foot tow rope, is open to East Auburn resident free of charge. Those residing outside that area are charged a minimal fee.

It seems to Margaret Milishousky as though God has forgotten her. That’s what she’s told members of her family in the past. How else to explain the fact that she’s lived 108 years?
No one forgot her Sunday, though. Friends and family, some of whom she hadn’t seen for a while, gathered with her to celebrate her birthday.
Milishousky is the oldest person living at Bolster Heights Health Care Facility in New Auburn. She’s apparently the oldest person living in Maine.
