DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Pleasant St. Drop-in Center needs volunteers. Please reach out to us via Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/716529479663868, or email us at [email protected]. You will be asked to fill out a volunteer application, read some informational materials and take part in a training.

We also have an urgent need for blankets, medium-sized pants, socks and lotion. There are also links to an Amazon Wish and a GoFundMe page here: https://www.pleasantstreetdropincenter.com/contact-information.

Other needs can be found here: https://www.pleasantstreetdropincenter.com/get-involved. Besides monetary gifts and volunteer hours, needed items include adult clothing and undergarments (all sizes; all genders), gloves, mittens, hats, adult shoes (all sizes; all genders), sleeping bags, tents, tarps, flashlights, backpacks of any kind, reusable water bottles, body wipes, body powder and bug repellent.

We also provide breakfast and lunch, averaging about 140 free meals per week. All food is supplied by community members and volunteers. Our free store is stocked with portable food for our guests to take with them and receive frequent requests for individually packaged snacks, cereal, instant oatmeal and canned goods that do not require can openers.

Donations can be dropped off at The Drop-In Center at 121 Mill St. in Auburn during operating hours on  Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — No name, Auburn

To all nonprofits with needs, large and small, never hesitate to send in your requests. I’m here for you!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am searching for a vintage turn table (record player) in excellent working condition to gift a family member. I am willing to pay or barter.

Also if you know of a business within 100 miles of Topsham that sells them, please let me know. I don’t want to look on eBay but rather see the item and check out the sound before purchasing or trading. Just write back to Sun Spots at [email protected]. I’ll be watching for your response. — Brian, no town

ANSWER:  Wouldn’t it be great if someone in Sun Spots Land has just what you’re looking for? Let us know if your search is successful.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you to the person who paid for our meal at Fairgrounds Café in Topsham last Sunday morning. My friend and I had met there for a special birthday brunch after church. When we asked the server for our tab, she seemed a little surprised and said, “Your friend paid for it!” We didn’t see anyone we knew in the restaurant so we can’t help but wonder if it was the Restaurant Angel you write about.

We are two ladies on a fixed income so we sure appreciated the gesture. Thank you, whoever you are! — Lucy and Jayce
