To the Editor:
Some people say it’s complicated. Well it got clearer to me after some people told me that the Norway Elementary School actually is still usable and does not have to be closed. I had been wondering specifically why it was necessary to do away with it.
Problems:
The agreement that each town may keep an elementary school – violated, ignored. Therefore proposal – not acceptable.
Partial combining of schools. Some towns keep local schools while others may not. Therefore proposal is for unequal and discriminatory treatment of children and of towns. Not acceptable.
Norway kids may be made worse off due to more transportation. Maybe. For Norway awful lot of time and money for questionable return. Did Norway officials question Super about such matters?
Money, money. Millions.
What a down-putting, insult to my smart, hard-working neighbors. They aren’t paying enough to support their schools? We need state aid?
Is the aid money freely given to the state? Is there “involuntary servitude”?
As with towns should not the funds have been voted up or down before the project was started? How does the “Advertiser” know two new schools will be built? When did the people vote?
