The Young Tradition Touring Group is an ensemble of talented teenage musicians and singers from Vermont and Maine, led this year by Ethan Tischler and Elsie Gawler of the group Springtide and the Gawler Family Band. They will be at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Lewiston next week, April 23.

Baby Sensory Playtime in Lewiston

Join the Lewiston Public Library for Baby Sensory Playtime in the Children’s Department every Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. Babies and their caregivers will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of sensory toys and socialize with other families with young children. Sensory play helps babies with emotional, social, cognitive, and language development while also helping to develop creativity and fine motor skills. Easter Bunny storytime and egg hunt in Jay

On Friday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. the Niles Memorial Library at 983 Main St. in Jay will offer an Easter bunny storytime and egg hunt. For more information, visit the library or check out their Facebook page.

Earth Day cleanup, meal and activities in Norway

On Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. there will be an Earth Day celebration at the Alan Day Community Garden at 26 Whitman St., in Norway.

A community cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., gathering at Norway Brewing Co., 237 Main St., Norway. At 12:30 p.m., to say thank you for giving back, Community Garden staff and volunteers will be serving up lunch from the community kitchen. Donations are encouraged.

From 1-2:30 p.m. there will be free workshops, family-friendly activities, giveaways, and the opportunity to meet local organizations that work every day to care for the earth.

And from 2-5 p.m. cleanup volunteers can enjoy $5 pours at Norway Brewing

Genealogy Hour in Lewiston

The Androscoggin Historical Society holds a genealogy hour every Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at 93 Lisbon St., Lewiston. Save up your questions and stop by to talk with an expert in the field. Weeks are themed to help you find the right advisor. On first and third Saturdays the topic will be family genealogy; on second Saturdays it will be all about house history; fourth Saturdays will focus on societal/lineage genealogy.

Easter ‘Blunch’ in Brownfield

Stone Mountain Arts Center will be offering Sunday “Blunch” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 20. According to organizers it will be “a little breakfasty a little lunch, and a lotta Eastah! Cool dining spaces, and there are even tables on stage! Vintage glasses, great food, and a warm and fun staff. Touched by the magic of clay in Bethel

This event on Monday, April 21, offered by The Gem theater in Bethel — the third in a series of science events — will explore the clay/touch connection with a social hour where kids and adults can get their hands dirty in clay and try their hand at sculpting. Then, Martha Grover, local potter, clay teacher and internationally known artist, will share her thoughts on touch and clay, while demonstrating throwing on the potter’s wheel. We will follow that with a screening of “Chicken Run,” a fun claymation movie.
The event is from 1-4 p.m. The Gem is located at 48 Cross St. in Bethel. Tickets are “pay what you can.”

Young Tradition Touring Group in Lewiston

The Young Tradition Touring Group, an auditioned traditional band of 22 young musicians based in Vermont, will perform at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lewiston on Wednesday, April 23, sharing a program of music rooted in Québec, Vermont, Maine, and Scandinavia. Jigs, reels, and more will be offered up by a full ensemble including fiddle, ukulele, guitar, harp, banjo, keyboard and a chorus of violins. The teenage musicians and singers are led this year by Maine’s own Elsie Gawler and Ethan Tischler of the group Springtide and the Gawler Family Band.
The concert will be from 6:45 to 8 p.m. The church is at 247 Bates St., Lewiston. The event is free; donations gratefully accepted to support youth music.
