Debora Downie Warrington

SOUTH PARIS – Debora Downie Warrington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.

Born in Waterville on June 21, 1947, to parents Franklin A. and Marjorie G. Downie. Debbie was a gregarious and talented student and cheerleader. She spent summers at Bryant Pond as a youth where she worked for her father, the Director of the Maine Conservation School. It was there on Lake Christopher that Debbie met Bob, the love of her life.

Debbie attended Waterville High School, the University of Southern Maine (Gorham), and Salve Regina College where she majored in early childhood education. A successful real estate sales professional, dedicated homemaker, and avid community volunteer; she truly loved helping others.

Debbie found great joy in singing, gardening, animals, boating, and holiday entertaining; but most of all she cherished and enjoyed her husband, children and grandchildren. She took immense pride in sharing their many accomplishments with anyone willing to listen! Her legacy includes songs, laughter, flourishing gardens, enduring friendships, and the unforgettable tradition of singing “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” which will never be the same without her.

Debbie leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Robert Warrington; her daughters Kate (Rod) Christmas, Jane (Joel) Post, and Amanda (Jason) Warrington-Morneault; and her cherished grandchildren Evan, Clark, Grant, Elizabeth, Franklin, and Dorothy. She is also survived by her devoted dog Bernie. Debbie was predeceased by her parents, beloved sister Paula Bryand, and her grandson Henry Morneault.

Her courage in her battle with chronic illness was as remarkable as the care provided by her loving husband and team of doctors. Special thanks for the medical talent and personal care provided to her over many years by Dr. Wirth and Dr. Subba. Her absence is deeply felt by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held when the spring flowers are in bloom.

Debbie’s vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
