HARTLAND — The death of a woman on April 12 has been ruled a homicide, the circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation by the Maine State police.
Vilma Withee, 78, of Hartland has been identified as the deceased, Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release issued Monday afternoon.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central at approximately 6:30 p.m. April 12 in response to a death at a residence on Canaan Road. The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was performed April 14.
The cause of death is not being released at this time. There is no known threat to the public.
