“John J. Sullivan, manager of the Better Homes week exposition in Auburn, has received so far but one criticism and that is on his baby show.

“One woman has found complaint because at the baby show the babies were not disrobed and examined in puris naturalibus (naked).

“Mr. Sullivan has over 100 babies — good judges, a happy afternoon, wonderfully successful. He declined to subject the mothers to the necessity of disrobing the children and he declined to take the risk of colds and discomforts.

“This was done by advice and desire of the mothers as a rule.

“His telephone has been ringing all day with compliments from those who attended and took part in the baby show. It was the finest ever seen.”

“LEWISTON — Two giant twig moose sculptures at Heritage Park were rescued and put inside the armory last week after recreation workers found them lying on the ground.

“The moose, which have been tilted by vandals since they were put up last year, will not return until Recreation Department Director Margaret Chisholm can devise a more secure way of installing them.

“‘I had so many compliments about them,’ she said. ‘We’re definitely not putting them away so they can collect dust.’

“The pair was part of a group of six divided between Lewiston and Auburn and made last summer by Scarborough artist Nantz Comyns-Toohey.

“One remains at Lewiston’s Ricker Park and police said three in Auburn parks were fixed to make them harder to move.”
