Shawn West’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Poland baseball team a 3-2 walk-off victory over Mountain Valley in both teams’ regular-season finale on Wednesday in Poland.

Poland entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 2-1. Aiden Bean drew a two-out walk for the Knights, and Alex Mains and Will Stanford followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases and set up West’s game-winning hit.

West, Mains and Stanford each finished with two singles, and Bean hit a double. Mains pitched a complete game, striking out 11, walking one and allowing five hits.

Sawyer Durant led Mountain Valley with two hits. Pitcher Tyler Warren struck out five, walked three and allowed nine hits on the mound for the Falcons (6-10).

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 4, YARMOUTH 3: Carter Davis stole home with one out in the bottom of the seventh to break a tie and give the Patriots (7-9) a win over the Clippers (3-13) in Gray.

Yarmouth tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the top of the seventh.

Gus Richmond had two hits and an RBI for the Patriots, while Kobi Conant hit a double and Carter Davis notched an RBI.

Jacob Mulry pitched five innings to earn the win, striking out six, walking three and allowing two hits.

Cade O’Meara recorded two hits and a RBI for Yarmouth. Iggy McGrath and Bobby Wolff each had a double.

LISBON 20, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 10: Jayden Camp hit two home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Greyhounds (10-5) past the Phoenix (2-13) in a high-scoring matchup in Livermore Falls.

Cody Osmond had two hits, four RBI and scored three runs for Lisbon. James Hoyle had three RBI, Gerek Theriault doubled and drove in two runs and Jake Fitzsimmons doubled, knocked in a run and scored three times. Spencer Franks and Carson Savoy added two hits apiece.

Levi Richards drove in two runs for Spruce Mountain, while Alex Grimaldi had three hits, three runs and a RBI.

BUCKFIELD 8, TRAIP ACADEMY 7: Nolan Litchfield doubled and singled while driving home three runs for the Bucks (7-9) in a victory over the Rangers (0-16) at Buckfield.

Krosby Harvey notched two hits and two RBI for Buckfield, which erased a 5-0 deficit with a six-run fifth inning. Pitcher Gabe White struck out 10 batters in four innings, and Breydan Ridlon fanned five in three innings on the mound.

Traip pitcher Sean Webster struck out six, walked one, and allowed six hits in five innings. He also had two hits and an RBI, as did Dylan D’Auteuil.

Buckfield enters the Class D South playoffs as the fifth seed, and coach Kyle Rines said the Bucks will play at No. 4 Wiscasset/Boothbay next Thursday.

SOFTBALL

POLAND 11, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 7: Olivia Rioux doubled and drove in three runs for the Knights (8-8) in their victory over the Falcons (10-6) in Poland.

Carly Jarvis also had three RBI for Poland, and Phoebe Paradis tripled and knocked in a run.

Paradis struck out 10 batters and only allowed one hit while walking eight in 6 2/3 innings.

Maddy Brown had two hits and an RBI for Mountain Valley, while Madisyn McLean drove in two runs. Mountain Valley scored six runs in the top of the first, but Poland countered with three in the third, five in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Falcons pitcher Addison Libby allowed eight hits, walked seven and struck out three.

LISBON SWEEPS SPRUCE MOUNTAIN: The Greyhounds (12-4) scored twice on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning to earn a 4-3 walk-off win and wrap up their regular season with a doubleheader sweep of the Phoenix (7-9) in Jay.

Both teams opened the second game with a pair of first-inning runs. Spruce Mountain pulled ahead, 3-2, in the third inning when Samantha Martin drew a bases-loaded walk. Mackenzie Eaton took over in the circle for Lisbon and held the Phoenix hitless and scoreless over the final 2 2/3 innings while striking out six and walking one batter.

The Phoenix were one out from victory before their fifth error of the game that gave the Greyhounds the sweep. All four of Lisbon’s runs were unearned.

Ava Kottmann, the Greyhounds’ starting pitcher, had a game-high two hits, while Eaton singled and drove in a run.

In the opener, Sophia Bowie homered and drove in two runs, and Eaton again excelled at the plate and in the circle in Lisbon’s 6-2 triumph.

Eaton tallied two hits, including a double, two RBI and scored once. She also pitched all five innings and struck out seven batters while walking two and allowing three hits.

One of Spruce Mountain’s three hits was a double by Santika Hodgkin, who, along with Tyoaka Hodgkin and Rylee Turner, recorded a hit in each game.

Turner pitched the entirety of both games. She compiled nine strikeouts, including seven in the opener, and allowed 14 hits in 9 2/3 innings. Only five of Lisbon’s combined 10 runs were earned.

The Greyhounds appear to have the third seed locked up in the Class C South playoffs, while the Phoenix will likely be the sixth seed.

BOYS LACROSSE

BRUNSWICK 13, LEWISTON 4: Finn White scored three times, and Avery Tatham and Robert Bowen each added two goals for the Dragons (9-5) in a victory over the Blue Devils (7-7) in Lewiston.

Bowen also had three assists. Nate Lavigne contributed a goal and an assist, while Peter Wilkoff, Evan Zavitz, Eben White, Ryan Livesay and Owen McGrath also scored for Brunswick.

Jackson Bement scored twice for Lewiston. Collin Michaud had a goal and an assist and Bernardo Fra-Nero got the other goal.

Brunswick goalie Brady Marzakis made three saves. Lewiston’s Brock Rancourt had 25 stops.
