Richard Alfred Wyman Sr.
NORWAY- Richard A. Wyman Sr., 93, of Norway, died Aug. 7, 2025, at his home on Pikes Hill. He is survived by his five children; son, Richard Jr. and his partner Carol Welsh; daughter, Judy Toothaker and husband Larry; son, David and wife Sandy; son, Tom and wife Carol; and daughter Jayne Briggs and husband Steve. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Richard was born and raised in Norway. He was born in Nobles Corner, North Norway, and moved in 1937 to Pikes Hill, Norway, and lived on “the hill” the remainder of his life. On Sept. 27, 1948 he married Charlotte Vashaw, “Snookie” to him and all who knew her, until she passed away in 2004.
Richard worked hard all his life starting when he was a young boy on his dad’s farm. He spent the majority of his working life in construction running heavy equipment and fully retired when he was into his early 80’s.
Richard enjoyed many things over the years, most especially dancing with Snookie, camping, snowmobiling, traveling, reading, hunting, and golfing.
In 2005 Richard began a relationship with a special lady, Jacqueline Belanger, who had also lost her spouse. They enjoyed almost 19 years together, spending time in Florida in the winter and traveling until, due to medical reasons, she was placed in a nursing facility in the fall of 2024.
Richard greatly enjoyed his family. He loved spending time with them all, especially for holidays, when all or many would gather, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. He loved the hugs and kisses from everyone, in particular, the newest members of the family, who called him papa.
Richard was always a true Mainer. He loved all things Maine, especially when it came to his food. He loved seafood, his favorites were lobsters and clams. He always looked forward to native corn on the cob each year. He was fortunate to be able to enjoy these, and other favorites (like cookies and chocolate milk) right up to a few days before he passed.
Richard was blessed with a large family and he will be loved and missed by each and every one.
