OTISFIELD — The Otisfield annual Barbecue is Wednesday evening, Aug. 20, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Community Hall 292 Route 121. On the menu is Barbecued Chicken thighs and drumsticks, Hot Dogs, Potato salad, Fruit salad, other Assorted salads with Cookies and Ice Cream Sandwiches for dessert.
There will be a brief dedication/family presentation in honor of Frank Blauvelt prior to the meal. Frank was the main cook for most of the 14 years that the Social Outreach Committee has served the monthly Community Lunch. In August an evening barbecue is served annually to include folks who work during the day. Meals are free; donations are appreciated and keep it a self-supporting activity.
The Community Lunch, the Wednesday Craft group and the Friday Walk group are ways the Community Outreach Committee fulfills it’s mission of bringing people together and breaking down social isolation. To get involved or for more information you may contact Elaine at

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
