It is with tremendous enthusiasm that I encourage members of our community to support the new Lewiston Maineiacs hockey team at the Colisée, 190 Birch St. Lewiston, on the opening weekend of Sept. 19 and 20.
The original Maineiacs team was a fixture of my childhood and, at age 25, I have wonderful memories of players giving their all, the team theme song, brightly-colored logo, flashing goal lights and enormous fan turnout.
The fan base was pumped at every game with team apparel the rage. Maineiacs Nation felt like family. The fact that The Colisee’s new owners have re-established a Lewiston Maineiacs team for this long-time hockey community is something to celebrate.
Lyrics in the original theme song state that the pride of Maine is taking the ice, and, thankfully, we have the opportunity to again witness action-filled Maineiacs hockey. Let’s pack out the Colisée for opening weekend and for games going forward.
