LEWISTON — The owner of Cantrell’s Seafood 2 at 1294 Lisbon St. announced late Monday he would be closing the location for good the next day.
In a brief post to the retailer’s Facebook page, owner Andy Cantrell stated simply that the business’s lease was up. He did not elaborate.
Three years ago, Cantrell took over the Lisbon Street location from George Gendron, who was in business for 36 years. Gendron retained ownership of the building.
Cantrell’s still has a location at 235 Lewiston Road in Topsham, which is open seven days a week. Cantrell’s refrigerated trucks can be found in Oxford, Newport, Presque Isle, Rumford and Jay on specific weekend days. The company’s Facebook page lists updates and specific locations.
The Buzz reached out to Cantrell for more information on why he was leaving the Lewiston market, but did not hear back.
