John George Spugnardi

AUBURN – John George Spugnardi, 90, passed away at the Hospice House in Auburn on Sept. 27, 2025. John was born on Sept. 14, 1935, to Edna (Beaulieu) and Emile Spugnardi in Lewiston.

John grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country. Upon discharge he returned to Lewiston.

On Sept. 2, 1961, he married Elizabeth “Betty” LaBrie in Auburn. They shared 64 wonderful years together. Living in Lewiston and then in 1972 moving to Turner where they raised their two sons. John was employed by Sanborn’s Express and APA Transport until his retirement. John loved to fish and hunt, and gardening. He spent a lot of time with his sons and his family.

His family will be forever grateful for the compassionate care and dignity shown by everyone at Andwell Hospice, especially his Hospice nurse Summer Warren.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his two brothers, Paul and George, and his sister, Angelina Pruyn.

He leaves behind his wife, Betty of Turner; his two sons, Jere and his wife Elaine of Livermore and Michael of Turner; grandsons Jacob of Turner, Tyler of Livermore and granddaughter, Kylee of Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of the Word Service at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Committal prayers will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lewiston.
