DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lisbon Falls Church of the Nazarene at 184 Main St. in Lisbon Falls will hosting their annual Harvest Party on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 5-7 p.m. There will be games, a hayride, supper-type foods, snacks and candy. It is free and everyone is welcome. ANSWER: This will be a great wholesome and safe event for families in the area and won’t conflict with traditional trick-or-treating. I also love that the fun is scheduled for a time that works for those of you who have small children who need to be tucked in early. 

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Nezinscot Lodge at 32 Weston Road in Turner will hold its Community Hunters Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 4:30-7:30 a.m. 

This traditional breakfast is not only for hunters, but also for members and families in the community. It is free of charge but donations will be accepted.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The AARP Tax-Aide Program, which provides free tax services at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn, is looking for volunteer tax preparers for the upcoming tax season. We provide free training in tax preparation and you will become an IRS-certified tax volunteer. 

If you’ve done your own taxes and have an interest in learning more, this is a very fulfilling volunteer job. We help close to 2,000 people each year and provide a one-of-a-kind service to the community. For more information, please call KC at 240-5649.,—,No name, no town

ANSWER: Is it that time already? I have used these services in the past and even volunteered one year. It is fulfilling work with thorough training, the opportunity to help lots of people, and even make new friends. Please help spread the word! 

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for all you do to support the Drop-in Center at 121 Mill St. in Auburn. We urgently need gloves, mittens, hats, hand warmers, toe warmers, warm socks, warm footwear and blankets.

It’s starting to be cold at night! Please give as generously as possible as our numbers of people we help have increased significantly. — Angela, no town

ANSWER: The Drop-in Center is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Perhaps this week you can go through your closets and drawers to collect any of the above items that are still in good condition and that you are no longer using.
