DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Leeds Community Church at 123 Church Hill Road invites the community to join them this Saturday, Oct. 25, from 3-6 p.m. for an afternoon of family fun. There will be decorated trunks, snacks, activities, and even more festivities in the gym. All children are welcome to participate.

If you’d like to participate or donate, please contact the church at 524-5444 or email [email protected]. Ami Merrick is the person to ask for. Your support is appreciated in making this event a success.

ANSWER: There are quite a few fun ways to celebrate Halloween with children in Sun Spots Land. A big thank you goes out to all the folks who make these events happen!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We hardly believe it’s that time again! Continuing our tradition of holding our annual Christmas fair on the first weekend of November, Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (“Green Church”), at 163 Main St., will hold its fair on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair will feature a table of handcrafted crafts and gifts; a bake sale that includes containers of comfort foods; and attic treasures with puzzles, books and household items.

An array of raffles will offer a handcrafted wall rack with picture frames, a group of gift cards from area businesses, and many items in the ever-popular brown bag raffle.

Free coffee will be offered all day and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The menu includes corn chowder with a biscuit and apple crisp for dessert.

The church’s phone number is 364-8603. Thank you so much for your help in promoting all of our events, Ms. Sun Spots! — Carol, Mexico

ANSWER: It’s my pleasure to include this in all the enjoyable events coming up. And you’re right, I can’t believe we’re gearing up for the winter holiday season either.

For all those involved with organizing and volunteering at these special fairs and other fundraisers, the rest of us appreciate you! Remember, though, to pace yourselves and give yourselves some tender loving care in moments between all the hard work. Shine bright but don’t burn out!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Once again the Sparkling Angelic Divas of Brunswick and Red Hat Chapters around New England will be hosting the 20th Salvation Army annual Toy Drive at the Auburn Mall Center Court by the Christmas tree on Friday, Nov. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please bring unwrapped gifts for children of all ages. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and Christmas carols.

Come by for fun and laughter and help support a wonderful cause. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at  [email protected]. — Jacquie, no town

ANSWER: We all look forward to this opportunity to help make the holiday season more joyful. Please be generous and do what you can.
