Incumbents Janet Beaudoin and Meghan Hird will return for another two-year term on the Lewiston School Committee after cruising to victory Tuesday.
Beaudoin defeated challenger Melanie Leigh Gould in Ward 2 with a comfortable 965-625 margin. Fellow committee member Hird comfortably held off newcomer Benjamin Wilcox Daley to retain her Ward 6 seat by a 1,002 to 594 cushion.
Former City Councilor Ricky LaChapelle lost his bid to represent Ward 4. Julia Marie Harper posted an 850-503 advantage. She replaces Craig Charpentier, who is retiring.
Former Lewiston elected official Luke Jensen returns to public office with a convincing 3,233-2,686 victory over Marcel Leclair for the at-large seat on the school committee. Jensen, who previously served on the City Council and the school committee, replaces council chair Megan Parks who decided to step down from her seat.
Meanwhile, Ward 5 member Iman Osman will have to forfeit his seat on the School Committee following his victory over Erin Soule-Leclair for the City Council in Ward 5. He retains his School Committee slot until he takes the oath of office in January. Osman’s successor will be appointed by the mayor, subject to City Council approval.
Ward 1 representative Phoenix McLaughlin, Elizabeth Eames in Ward 3 and Donna Gallant in Ward 7 will not be up for reelection until 2026.
