Henry L. McLaughlin
NORTH CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Henry L. McLaughlin (Grampy) of North Chesterfield, Va., passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 1, 2025, with his beloved wife Frances McLaughlin by his side. He was 86 years old. Born in Gardiner, to the late Austin and Victoria (Severance) McLaughlin, he was predeceased by his first wife of almost 50 years Barbara (Cobb) McLaughlin and his eight siblings Austin Jr., Ernest, Earlene, Geneva, Gladys, Phyliss, Betty, Myrtle and Victoria. Upon graduating from Kent’s Hill School in Readfield, he joined the Air Force, traveling the world, earning his undergraduate degree and raising five children. While in the Air Force, he obtained the highest level of leadership, Chief Master Sargent. After his retirement from the Air Force, Henry moved back to Maine with his family where he embarked on his second career, establishing his accounting business, McLaughlin Associates. During this time, he also worked on his MBA. When he wasn’t reading spy novels and westerns, Henry enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and talking about current events with his children around the kitchen table. Along with his wife Frances McLaughlin, he is survived by his children Cheryl Marsh, David McLaughlin (Terry), Kathleen McLaughlin, Susan Graham (John), Patricia Strout (Toby), his stepchildren Brandon Corr (Olinda), Ashley Corr (Cari) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service to honor Henry McLaughlin’s life, will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Virginia. Burial will be at a later date in Maine.
