Emma Witas scored 17 points, and Dirigo beat Mountain Valley 62-20 in the girls’ basketball season opener for both teams Thursday night in Rumford.

Abigail Luczynski added 15 points, while both Madison Bradeen and Sophia Nino-Aguire scored 10.

Madison Blanchard and Chloe Brown led Mountain Valley with six points each.

EDWARD LITTLE 1, CHEVERUS/YARMOUTH 0: Jared Powers scored from Nolan Heath at 8:03 of the first period, and the Red Eddies beat the Cheverus/Yarmouth co-op in the season-opener for both teams.

Caden Westhoven made 29 saves for Edward Little. Ashton Additon of Cheverus/Yarmouth stopped nine shots.
