Edward Little co-op goalie Paige Fecteau stops a shot by Molly Theriault-Guay of St. Dom's/Lisbon during a January 2025 game in Auburn.

It’s safe to say that Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oxford Hills has done enough to earn the No. 1 ranking in the first Varsity Maine girls hockey poll of the 2025-26 season. Not only have Red Hornets yet to allow a goal, but they’ve already beaten two of the other teams in the top five, No. 4 Cheverus and No. 5 Winslow, by a combined score of 13-0.

The Red Hornets received eight of nine first-place votes, with the other going to third-ranked Biddeford.

Yarmouth/Freeport is ranked second, the only blemish to its record a tie with Cheverus.

The Varsity Maine girls hockey poll is based on games played before Dec. 9, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
