AUBURN — Three years after breaking ground on the Mount Auburn Apartments complex next to BJ’s Wholesale Club at 138 Mt. Auburn Ave., completion is in sight.
A spokesperson for developer A.R. Building Co. said Monday that the company hopes to have 51 more luxury one- and two-bedroom units ready for occupancy by late spring or early summer, for a total of 101 apartments.
The first building was completed last May with tenants moving in soon after.

The second building was gutted by a massive fire Sept. 8, 2024, before it was completed. Local, state and federal officials investigated the fire but no cause has been publicly released.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed Tuesday its investigation has closed, but would not release further information. No one was injured in the fire.
Three weeks later, the company confirmed it would rebuild the building and repair minor damage to the first building.
Each building has four floors with an even mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Each apartment features stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, in-unit washer and dryer, a balcony and walk-in closets.

There is a 24/7 fitness center in the first building, and a swimming pool is planned to be built in the spring and be ready for the summer.
Lease rates range from $1,595 for a one-bedroom up to $2,300 for a two-bedroom/two-bath unit. The apartments range in size from 740 square feet to over 1,200 square feet. The complex is pet friendly.
