LEWISTON — An 82-year-old woman struck by a car on Pleasant Street last week remained in serious condition Tuesday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Police identified her as Marie Van Nostrand, who had been living in a nearby hotel.
Nostrand was struck Feb. 5 while walking on Pleasant Street, police said. The car that struck her was driven by 54-year-old Pamela Price-Wharff, who was pulling out of Jeffrey Street at the time.
Nostrand was struck and dragged for a block to York Avenue, police said, resulting in multiple injuries.
No charges have been filed. Police reconstructed the crash scene and will forward their findings to the District Attorney’s Office, which is standard procedure in car incidents that result in serious injury.
The investigation was ongoing Tuesday.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
