NEWRY — A 5-year-old child was taken to a hospital Tuesday afternoon with injuries suffered in a fall from a ski lift at Sunday River Resort.
Early indications were that the child suffered leg and possible other injuries when he fell off the lift shortly after noon.
A Sunday River spokesperson confirmed that a guest at the resort had fallen from the Jordan Mountain double ski lift.
“The resort team responded immediately and transported the guest for further evaluation,” said Ellen Wainwright, communications manager for Sunday River Resort.
The child’s identity was not provided and his condition was unknown.
One report suggested that the child had fallen 50 feet from the chair, although that could not be immediately confirmed.
The Jordan Mountain double is a two-way lift that shuttles resort visitors between Jordan Bowl and Aurora Peak. The chairlift resumed normal operations soon after the fall, according to Wainwright.
