A Lewiston woman is accused of firing multiple gunshots Thursday, with several striking a nearby vehicle on Pine Street near Howard Street in Lewiston.

The Lewiston Police Department responded after gunshots were reported at about 5:36 p.m. in the area of Pine and Howard streets.

Following an investigation, police arrested Leyla Isaak, 22, of Lewiston on charges of one count of aggravated reckless conduct, five counts of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and one count of criminal mischief for rounds striking a parked vehicle, according to department’s Facebook release.

The case remains under investigation.

Isaak was being held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail Friday at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn. She is scheduled to go before a judge later in the day.

Police located several witnesses Thursday night who described an altercation that had occurred just prior to the shots being fired, police said.

“Witnesses reported that a female involved in the dispute fired multiple rounds at a group she had just argued with in the street,” the release said. “Officers recovered several shell casings in the area consistent with where witnesses said the incident occurred.”

No one was injured during the incident.

One witness provided investigators with cellphone video footage of the suspect, who was identified as Isaak.

“Investigators later located Isaak and recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting,” police said.

A conviction on the charges range from 364 days in jail to a maximum 10 years in prison.
