Isaiah Harris of Lewiston finished third in the 800 meters at the USATF Indoor Championship on Sunday in New York.
Harris, 29, finished in 1 minute, 47.22 seconds. Cooper Lutkenhaus, 17, won the race in 1:46.68 and Sean Dolan was second with a season best time of 1:47.16.
Harris was fourth after the first 200 meters and stayed with the leaders throughout. Lutkenhaus moved into the lead around the halfway point and gained a bit of separation on the final lap of the race.
With his third-place finish, Harris puts himself in position to compete for the United States team at the World Indoor Championships from March 20-22 in Rujawy Pomorze, Poland. The top two finishers will run for Team USA, as long as they reach the world standard of 1:45.90 by March 8. Harris and Lutkenhaus are the only runners in the race with the standard. Lutkenhaus, a junior in high school, told NBC during the broadcast that he plans to race at worlds. If Dolan reaches the standard, Harris would be eligible as an alternate.
